WHY WE GIVE

We believe God calls us to engage the business of His kingdom and we understand He finances kingdom expansion through the member-partners at Venture Church.

Our willingness to invest our treasure to advance the gospel is born out of the Spirit’s work in our hearts as He transforms our thinking from an earthly mindset to a kingdom mindset.

As we await the return of our King, we are called to be devoted to engage the business of the kingdom of God; God resources the business of the kingdom through generous givers.

Our motivation to invest in the business of the kingdom is fueled by our desire to make disciples of the nations because we believe that Jesus completely transforms lives.

PRACTICAL INVESTMENT STRATEGIES FOR ENGAGING KINGDOM BUSINESS

When we fail to understand how investing our treasure relates to our calling, we will become paralyzed by fear and fail to engage the business of the kingdom.

HERE ARE A FEW PRACTICAL STRATEGIES FOR ENGAGING THE BUSINESS OF ADVANCING GOD’S KINGDOM THROUGH GENEROUS GIVING.

  1. Investing our treasure in the business of the kingdom should not be random or irresponsible -- it should be predetermined and systematic.
Now concerning the collection for the saints: as I directed the churches of Galatia, so you also are to do. On the first day of every week, each of you is to put something aside and store it up, as he may prosper so that there will be no collecting when I come.  – 1 Corinthians 16:1-2
  2. Investing our treasure in the business of the kingdom should not be based on feelings of obligation -- it is based on walking in faith and obedience in response to God’s love and provision.
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.  – 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
  3. Tithing is not the New Testament standard for Christians. Our hope is for our member-partners to move beyond the tithe and become a generous giver.
As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.  – 1 Tim. 6:17-19
