JOURNEY STUDENTS

(7TH–12TH GRADES)

WE EXIST TO MAKE DISCIPLES...

by partnering with parents, equipping leaders, and empowering students to see them find FAMILY, have FUN, and grow in FAITH. We desire to see the most influential generation to be raised up to change the world in Jesus’ name.

OUR HOW

Partnering with Parents:  We believe that parents are the primary disciplers of their kids, and we as the church have the privilege and the duty to walk alongside parents to help disciple their kid. Our leaders are tasked to co-parent and adopt students alongside their own parents to see them grow in maturation and spiritual understanding.

Equipping Leaders:  Leaders partner alongside the student pastor to receive

discipleship and training. Weekly meetings, conferences, and relatable material help our team stay up to date with current student ministry trends and help us to better understand and disciple our younger brothers and sisters. We equip our leaders so they can empower the next generation.

Empowering Students:  Students are not the future of the church. Students are the church. They are vital to our body and are often the spiritual temperature of the local church. If Jesus took 12 teenagers and changed the entire world, imagine what the local church can do with the most influential generation in history. Our students are empowered to do the work of the ministry from the perspective of a younger brother or sister in the faith family.

Family:  Our culture at Journey is Family. If you walk through our doors, it doesn't matter where you’ve been or where you're going, you are adopted into our family. We are all messed up people who serve a perfect Savior. We foster a community where it is okay not to be okay, but it is not okay to stay there. Family never leaves. Adoption is forever.

KELLER + NORTHWEST

Currently all students from Keller and NorthWest are meeting together at the Keller Campus (801 Keller Parkway, Keller, TX)

ALL STUDENTS CAN EXPECT

Friendly Atmosphere:

  • Upon arrival you will be greeted by smiling faces at the glass doors outside of the 805.

Family Integration:

  • Ministry leaders are trained to recognize new faces as to grow our family. Be prepared to answer lots of questions from people who love you!
  • Spikeball, Switches, Couches, Air Hockey, Ping Pong, and an awesome atmosphere to have as much fun as possible!
  • Come smiling! The student pastor will approach you with a polaroid camera so that you can be on our family wall!
  • A same gendered student leader will probably ask for your address. They are not stalkers. They want to take time so they can write you a letter thanking you for coming and welcoming you into the family!
  • Small Groups. There will be a time where you can be real with adults around you about the things in your life. Good or bad, messy or beautiful. We are here for you.

Student Empowerment:

  • You are the church. If you want to step up in leadership, the answer is always yes. Ask a student leader, an adult leader, or the student pastor how you can do what God is calling you to do in the context on Journey. We believe that you have the same ability and the same Spirit of God in your heart to move you towards great things that adults have.
